Dead Broke Farm

White Horse For Indian Weddings

In order to serve the South Asian Indian community in NC, SC, GA, VA, and TN, we have invested in traditional Ghori costumes and Indian style clothing for our handlers. Their ghori costumes are elaborately decorated in maroon and gold to compliment the groom's clothing as he rides to the temple on horseback among his friends and family. We have three beautiful white Percheron horses: Amber, Handsome, and Pearl, who have been used in baraats for many years. They are calm and gentle and accoustomed to the loud and colorful festivities of the baraat. But to ensure the groom's safety, our horses follow the music, drummer, and the wedding guests. We have a 2-step stool to assist the groom in mounting the horse, which can be seen in some of the photos below of our baraat horses in their wedding outfits along with their handlers.

We allow up to 30 minutes in the event that the wedding party is running behind schedule and up to an hour for the actual baraat procession. In the event we are kept waiting longer than 30 minutes after the requested start time of the baraat, there will be an additional charge of $100/hour or a prorated portion thereof. This is to ensure that we aren't told an artificially early start time due to concerns that we may be late. Recognizing the importance of being punctual for your baraat, we arrive 30 minutes to an hour prior to the baraat start time so that we have ample time to prepare the horse and handler.

We are accepting bookings for wedding ceremonies, so reserve one of our white horses early for your wedding to ensure availability. Our horses' costumes include an optional umbrella. Be sure to specify if you want it included. There is an extra charge of $25 for the umbrella. Someone from your wedding party will need to carry the umbrella. All 3 horses are pictured below in their natural state.

(within 15-mile radius from DBF)

                   Price is non-negotiable.

*If you are requesting to schedule your baraat on a US National Holiday or the weekend of a holiday, there will be an additional fee of $200.

Give us a call at 919-323-1265 or email Carla to check for availability on the date of your wedding. If we have a horse available, you'll need to submit a $100 deposit to reserve it. Then you will need to pay the balance of $600 at least one month prior to the wedding. This means you can avoid having to deal with payment on the day of the wedding, and it prevents us from having to track down the person responsible for payment before or after the ceremony. It's just easier on everyone involved. Some people prefer to pay in full when making the reservation, and that's permissible as well.

How Can I Submit My Deposit?

Option 1: Use The Paypal Payments Feature On Our Website

You don't have to be a Paypal member to use the Paypal Payments feature. It will allow you to use a credit or debit card to submit your deposit securely online. You will receive confirmation of your deposit from Paypal immediately, and you'll receive a confirmation of your reservation from us within one day of your submission. To help keep our costs and prices down, we request that the balance be paid in cash. Remember, you don't have to be a Paypal member to use the Paypal Payments feature below.

Simply click on the Paypal Payments button and then choose one of the following options: Login to my Paypal Account or Pay with Debit or Credit card.

Option 2: Call Us With Your Credit Card Details

White Horse for WeddingWe accept Mastercard and Visa by phone for the deposit, and no processing fee will be billed to you. However, if you choose to pay the balance using a Credit or Debit card, we will add 4% to your balance. As a small business, we cannot absorb the costs that the credit card companies assess on the full amount. Call (919) 323-1265 if you wish to use a credit card over the phone for your deposit.

Option 3: Mail A Check

If you pay your deposit by check, you can assume we received it unless you hear from us otherwise. But to avoid the obvious risks associated with accepting checks, we request that you pay the balnce in cash. If making your deposit by personal or certified check, please make the check payable to Dead Broke Farm and mail it to our home office:

amber 1 april 2016Cancellations

In the event of rain or a forecast for rain of more than 50%, you have the option of cancelling your reservation to use our white horse for your wedding. If you cancel, you will receive a full refund less the $100 deposit. However, if you cancel for any other reason, and it is within 1 month prior to the wedding, you will only receive half of your total paid, i.e. you will be refunded $350 of the $700, because we will be unable to backfill the reservation with a new booking given such short notice. But if you cancel with at least 30 days' notice, you will be refunded your $100 deposit (and the $600 balance provided you had paid in full initially when reserving your horse).
